Forget about those DVD players in your vehicle, it is time to keep up with the latest with the Panasonic CY-BB1000D Blu-ray player. This in-dash Blu-ray player will not only handle the latest full HD movies in your vehicle, it is also more than capable of playing back your collection of DVDs and audio CDs without missing a beat. In addition, it supports AVCREC and AVCHD videos, too.
No idea on whether the CY-BB1000D will make it out of Japan or not in due time, but folks living in that part of the world can pick theirs up for €743.

Garmin has released its line of BMW Portable Navigation Systems which sound so much better than the nuvi 880 and nuvi 760, save for the fact that these can be fitted with specially-engineered mounts into the BMW 1 Series, BMW 3 Series and BMW X3 models.
These models will also function with the stated BMWs’ sound system, allowing to mute all entertainment audio for a moment so that the driver is able to hear those navigation commands clearly. The nuvi 880 comes with voice recognition capability, making it easier to drive around without having to lift a finger off the steering wheel. North American purchases will come with Garmin’s FM traffic receiver with FM real-time traffic, MSN Direct’s real-time traffic reports, gas prices and weather, among others.

Audi has a brand new Traffic Light Detection System known as Travolution. It is self-explanatory, helping improve the synchronization and phasing of traffic light networks in order to reduce stopping times while dramatically reducing the number of actual stops required thanks to a communications link between cars and the traffic light network.
Each traffic light will come with a communication module that sends messages to cars in the area, alerting them of the time left before it turns green, where the vehicle’s onboard system will take over and calculate the speed the driver ought to maintain to pass through the light during its green phase.

Electric Motorsport has unleashed its $8,000 electric motorcycle known as the GPR-S. This model does look pretty decent from the outside, and on a full charge, is able to roam around within a 35 to 60 mile radius, depending on traffic conditions and how fast you go.
Performance levels are somewhat similar to a Honda CBR125, and the GPR-S has a top speed of 60-70mph. It takes approximately 4 hours for a full charge, but you can shorten that time to just 1.5 hours with an optional quick charge unit.

BMW and Google have come together, offering a new service known as MyInfo. This system will see the integration of the popular Google Maps software in all but the BMW X3 for the 2009 fleet. Google Maps is essential as it will be the backbone of the BMW Search system (which is available only in vehicles that come with the BMW Assist and Navigation system).
BMW can only choose between AT&T and T-Mobile as the mobile provider in order to use the same mobile technology as the European models. It will rely on the much slower GPRS network since 3G networks are still relatively underdeveloped compared to our friends across the Atlantic. BMW Searcg will come with a $199 annual subscription fee and is part of the concierge plan available in the BMW Assist.

Nokia and BMW have unleashed a Video Phone concept. With the brand name of BMW attached to the concept, you can expect nothing but the best without compromising on its looks and styling cues.
Of course, the price is going to be stratospheric as well, placing it well out of reach from the working class. Best of all is, this concept handset features a “push to open” mechanism that enables the owner to rotate the cellphone 90 degrees to activate the camcorder function.
