In a move that will certainly annoy its subscribers AT&T has started spamming its customers with text ads. It recently sent out texts to subscribers advertising American Idol. Even worse is the fact that the company is defending itself by stating that it didn’t charge customers for those texts, and that they could easily opt-out by replying “stop”!!

AT&T is busy considering their options for linking U-Verse to Apple’s popular iPhone . It’s also planning to introduce services that would allow them to become an all encompassing home theater system. Some of the more interesting features would include using the iPhone as a remote control, listening to voicemail on your TV, downloading shows from DVR’s to your iPhone.

While Nokia’s 6650 hasn’t been officially announced for AT&T yet, users have spotted pictures of the phone plastered with the AT&T logo on Nokia’s site, though it seems that the page is no longer valid. That being the case, it’s probably a rather good indication that AT&T subscribers will be able to get their hands on Nokia’s 6650 flip phone in either silver or red. Specs of the phone include:
- Symbian S60 3rd edition with Feature Pack 2
- 2.2-inch QVGA display
- 2 megapixel camera
- microSD card expansion
- aGPS

US mobile users in need of an affordable music-oriented phone should be happy to find out that the largest North American carrier (AT&T, of course) has just released a new handset for them: Sony Ericsson W350.
The retail price of W350 is $229.99, but with a contract agreement for two years, the phone can be bought for $79.99. However, AT&T offers an online discount, which makes the new Sony Ericsson free of charge, if acquired together with the said contract agreement. The $0 price is only available for the Ice Blueversion of the W350, while the Electric Black one is sold for $29.99.

AT&T and LG today announced a new multimedia device for users who want the “best in video on their mobile phone” – LG Invision. The fairly ugly candybar is the third device that is compatible with the mobile operator’s mobile TV offering. At the same time, at just a little more than 4 inches tall, 2 inches wide and less than one-half an inch thick, the Invision is the smallest mobile TV-capable phone in the U.S.
Aside from sporting a mobile TV receiver, it also comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera, 3G radio, Bluetooth, and more. The phone will sing along AT&T Mobile Music, allowing users to access music from eMusic, Napster To Go, as well as listen to the streaming digital radio by XM Radio Mobile. The Invision is available in all company-owned AT&T stores and online at for $99.99 with a new two-year agreement and $50 mail-in rebate.

Word on the street is that AT&T is going to pick up the new HTC handset, the Touch Pro and they will rebrand it as the HTC Fuze. We don’t know why they want to change the name, but it’s good to know they are bringing the Touch Pro to the US market. The HTC Fuze is said to be available “sooner rather than later” whatever that means. There aren’t any concrete news on pricing either but I am counting on AT&T employees to leak these details on time like they always do.
