T-Mobile is planning to use a non-standard SIM card format in the future, although this does not apply to cellphones. This new SIM format will be used in devices like connected GPS, Remote sensors or something like the Amazon Kindle.

That’s because such devices usually come with an unlimited data plan that could be used for other purposes (like a PDA or a laptop) if the SIM was removable. By using non-removable identification methods like this, wireless carriers are laying the ground for the next wave of connected devices.

Since Android is Google’s mobile platform, it’s only natural for the big G to continuously add new features to it. And the latest one comes to help T-Mobile G1 users to easily and quickly search stuff on Google, by using voice commands. That’s right, you won’t have to type your queries anymore if you don’t feel like it. The voice search feature is not yet available, but it will be, after the next Android update comes (which should happen starting this week).

MDA Basic is the name of the latest smartphone from T-Mobile’s MDA line-up. The device was just announced in Germany and it’s actually a T-Mo personalized version of HTC Touch Viva, which has been around since last year.

As its name suggests, the MDA Basic is not a high-end handset. However, it comes with Windows Mobile 6.1, a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi and a 2MP camera – all of which are quite nice features for a basic device. German customers will be able to buy the new smartphone starting February 2009, for as low as €4.95 with a 2-yr contract agreement.
