Gionee, a well known brand in China, is setting its foot in India also. Gionee Pioneer P3 is its cheapest smartphone targeting the budget buyers. Its box contents includes a handset, battery, charger, earphone, USB cable, user manual and warranty card.

Design and Display

The phone has got a candy bar format with rounded corners. It has a plastic body with rubber finish at the back which makes it easy to hold and prevents damage. Its front panel consists of a screen, three soft touch buttons and a front camera lens. Gionee Pioneer P3 has 129.3 mm of height, 68 mm of width and 11.1 mm of thickness as its dimensions. It has got a 4.3 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480x800 pixels and 217ppi pixel density.

Hardware and Software

The phone has been coupled with a 1.3 GHz Quad Core Cortex A7 processor with Android v4.2 Jelly Bean Operating System. It has been assisted with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD slot. Presence of Mali-400 GPU ensures good graphics quality. It also avails Light, Proximity, E- Compass and G sensors to have effective operations.

Telephony and Messaging

The device comes with the Dual SIM and Dual stand-by facility that operates on 2G and 3G networks.  On the messaging front, user can use the T9 dictionary and Predictive text input feature to do SMS, MMS, Email, Push Mail, RSS and IM.

Camera

Pioneer P3 scores good on camera front. It has a 5 MP rear camera with Zoom, Auto-focus, LED Flash and HD video recording features. It comes with other settings like Geo-tagging, Face and Smile detection, Panorama, 99 snaps in one click, Image stabilization, Smile shot and Gesture shot. The smartphone also avails a VGA front camera for selfies that provide a resolution of 640x480 pixels.

Entertainment

Considering entertainment, it comes loaded with a music player, video recorder and video player. User can play games, tune to FM radio or can stay connected with friends using its SNS integration feature. Sound quality is decent both while playing music and taking calls.

Connectivity and Battery

The connectivity attributes of the device includes GPRS, Wi-Fi, EDGE, Wi-Fi Hotspot, WLAN Direct, Bluetooth, USB, Gionee Xender and Handsfree. It also features GPS with A-GPS support to help in navigation. The phone packs a Li-ion battery of 1700 mAh.

The phone is available in Black and White colors at a price of INR 7499 approximately.

Verdict

Gionee Pioneer P3 has superb processor and amazing camera capabilities available at a very reasonable price. But according to some expert reviews, this phone lacks in providing scratch resistant screen, good viewing angles and enough RAM.
