Verizon Wireless has launched the Motorola Barrage, a rugged, MIL-SPEC cetified clamshell phone. With a chrome, glass, mesh, and rubber body construction, the handset can survive some of the worst weather conditions.

The Barrage can be submerged in a meter of water for up to 30 minutes and it is protected from humidity, solar radiation, shock, vibration, as well. The device features push-to-talk functionality, a 2.0 megapixel camera, and a 1170mAh battery for extended use. Verizon services are also supported, like VZ Navigator for turn-by-turn directions, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and V Cast Video on Demand.

The Verizon Wireless Barrage will be available October 1 for $129.99 after a two-year customer agreement and $50 mail-in rebate. A variant of the device will ship without a camera on October 21.
