Sony Xperia M2 Aqua is an Android based smartphone, announced by the Japanese manufacturer, Sony in the month of July, 2014. The device is officially launched in the month of August, 2014. The company is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Let's take a closer look at the specifications of this smartphone.

Design and Display

The Xperia M2 Aqua is a stylish phone as far as looks are concerned. It features a subtle metallic frame in ceramic matte finish, a durable tempered glass and an aluminum power button on the side that serves as icing on a cake. The phone is easy to use and can easily fit into most palms. It has a height of 140 mm, width of 72mm and thickness of 8.6 mm as its dimensions along with a weight of 149 grams. The front panel of phone is dominated by a 4.8-inches HD display which provides a resolution of 960x540 pixels and 230 ppi pixel density. The phone is water-proof and dust-proof so that one can capture pictures and videos under fresh water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.

Hardware and Software

Powering the smartphone is a Quad-core processor that has a clock speed of 1.2 GHz and an enough power to handle the apps. The device comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip-set and an Adreno 305 as its graphical processing unit. The M2 Aqua runs on the latest Android version 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is coupled to a RAM of 1 GB and an internal storage of 8 GB which can be expanded further up to 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Overall, the hardware part sounds great in this price range.

It can capture 31 shots in just 2 seconds with a resolution power of 3264x2448 pixels which is quite interesting. The secondary camera has a 1.1 MP count which allows the user to make a video call. One can also take 1280x1024 pixels resolution selfies.

Backing up the device is a Li-ion 2330 mAh battery which delivers a talk-time up to 12 hours 11 minutes and standby time up to 641 hours along with a music playback time up to 37 hours and video playback time up to 8 hours.
