After the huge success of Corby series Samsung India has launched launched Corby Speed , its first touch screen mobile handset on the CDMA platform. Samsung Corby Speed gives data speed of up to 2.4Mbps. The phone supports full Service (Voice + Data) across all CDMA operators OMH SIM Cards like Tata Indicom, Reliance Mobile, MTS and Virgin Mobile. The Corby Speed comes in bold colours and has pop-style contours and curved body design. The phone has a 2 MP camera, 2.8″ display, music player, FM with recording and 80 MB internal memory expandable upto 8GB with a MicroSD. The Indian subsidiary of the South Korean Samsung sells its CDMA phones through two channels – directly in the open market and through mobile phone service providers. “Currently, the ratio of open market sales to telecom operator sales is 20:80. We expect to change to 30:70 next year,” said company vice president Hendrick Lee while launching a range of CDMA Corby.
The Corby Speed, available on the CDMA platform, has the original Corby’s trademarks of bold colours, pop-style contours and stand-out curved body design. Users can update current status and access friends’ updates, live feeds on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. The handset also supports various social networking community sites by integrating leading User Generated Content sites such as Flickr, Picasa and Photobucket and other popular SNS sites including Facebook, MySpace and Friendster directly into the handset’s user interface. Users can upload photos and videos to these SNS and User Generated Content sites. The Corby Speed package includes 3 vibrant color fashion jackets – Yellow , White and Black and is priced at Rs. 10,400.

Indian consumers who want style in their mobile phone at an affordable price can now go out and buy one after Nokia announced the launch of its new slide phone – Nokia 6600i Slide . Priced attractively at Rs 13,000, the phone has dimensions of 93.0 x 45.0 x 14.2 mm and weighs just 110 grams.

The new slide phone also has the capability of doubling as a modem. Some of the best features in the 6600i include Nokia Xpress audio messaging, and speed dialing for SMS sending. Nokia 6600i is equipped with a TFT screen of 2.2″ , which supports a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA). It also has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and double LED flash.
The Nokia 6600i has an in-built Nokia Music player and offers support for mp3, .wma, .aac, eAAC, eAAC+ formats. Furthermore FM radio users can access channels from 87.5-108 MHz with RDS support. Coming to the e-mail features, the Nokia 6600i supports IMAP4, POP3, SMTP formats. Nokia also said that e-mail attachments are also supported by the phone. Web browsing is made easier with the Nokia Browser, while Nokia Maps application offers GPS and navigation support.
The Nokia 6600i has 20 MB internal user memory, which is expandable to 16 GB via the micro SD slot. The new phone is available in black and silver colors and has a talk time of four hours on GSM networks. Nokia 6600i also offers seamless network connectivity support for 3G, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, 3G, EDGE, GPRS, GSM, HSCSD, UMTS (3G) networks, 850,900, 1800, 1900, 2100 services.

Nokia E72, the much awaited device has finally arrived in India. Nokia E72 device is considered the successor to the very famous E71. Nokia E72 brings a rich mobile email and instant messaging experience right out of the box, making it the perfect device for people that want to be productive in both their personal and professional lives.

LG India has launched its innovatively designed handset dubbed GD900 Crystal for Indian consumers. The device boasts of LG’s advanced touch technology and Gesture Command. The LG Crystal claims to be the world’s first transparent handset and features intuitive 3D S-class UI. The GD900 sports a 7.62 cms WVGA full touchscreen display and incorporates an alphanumeric keypad that doubles as a touchpad for controlling the handset.
“We wanted to give our consumers a super luxury experience and therefore, developed a handset that touts a gorgeous sliding keypad – the LG GD900 Crystal. The phone’s transparent touchpad feature adds to the personality of our consumers and gives gizmo geeks a wonderful reason to possess it. Not only this, we have made a creative use of hardware through Gesture Command that provides control via simple, on-screen finger movements. We are positive that our new handset will become a winning model of the year,” explained Anil Arora, Business Group Marketing Head, Mobile Communications, LGEIL.
To launch a feature, users simply need to press the handset’s multitasking button and draw one of the 12 easy symbols on the keypad. Further, users can also assign symbols to any of the device’s nine multitasking-enabled features. The transparent phone is also inclusive of a dedicated graphics chipset offering comprehensive multimedia experience.
The Crystal comes with 1.5GB of internal memory and allows expansion till 16GB. The mobile phone packages Wi-Fi capabilities, Dolby Mobile enhanced sound and DVD resolution video recording, 8 megapixel auto-focus camera and media player. The LG Crystal is offered in chrome and titen shades and is made available at all retail outlets nationwide for Rs 26,000.

Fly Mobile has announced the launch of two new dual SIM touchscreen handsets in India at very affordable prices. The new phones launched are the MC160 and the E106 , both of which are targeted at the youth. Fly has priced these handsets in the Rs. 5,300 to Rs. 6,000 price range, which, according to the company, is way lower than the Rs. 8,000 mark that is usually where basic touchscreen handsets are priced. Additionally, these phones also boast of dual SIM capability, which is rarely seen on most low priced touchscreen phones of today.
First off, we have the MC 160, which is also promoted as a music centric handset with a Yamaha chipset that is claimed to enhance music playback quality. The MC 160 boasts of a QVGA touchscreen that displays 262k colors. It has a decent 3.2 megapixel camera and supports memory expansion with microSD cards. This is apart from the 89MB internal memory that the phone comes with. On the connectivity front, the phone is EDGE and GPRS capable, with support for Bluetooth for local file transfers. No sign of Wi-Fi here – but then that is excused considering the price at which this will retail.
The MC 160 supports video recording, self-help feature, A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Protocol), card slot, mobile tracker with remote control capabilities, privacy protection feature, and a phonebook that can store up to 2,000 records. The MC 160 is priced at Rs. 6,000.
Next in line is the Fly Mobile E106 – which happens to be the second cheap touchscreen phone announced by Fly. This one is a dual SIM phone as well, that boasts of a 2.4 inch QVGA screen with 262K colors. The E106 supports FM radio with recording, Bluetooth, GPRS, talk time of 4 hours and a standby time of 240 hours, A2DP, live MSN and motion sensors. The phone also has a basic 2 megapixel camera that should capture decent images.
The E106, Like the MC 160 supports memory expansion, video recording, and a phonebook that can hold 1000 records. The E106 has been priced at Rs. 5,300 in Indian – making it one of the most affordable touchscreen phones in the market.

Tata Docomo, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices Limited, and Microsoft India have entered into a long term, strategic partnership to provide next generation telecom products and services to Indian consumers. “In the immediate term, the partnership will involve the promotion of new Windows Phones-Acer Be Touch E101 and Acer Neo Touch s200, powered by Windows Mobile 6.5″, Anil Sardana, MD, Tata Teleservices Limited, told reporters here today.
Ravi Venkatesan, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation India, said “We are rapidly trying to develop new kind of muscle, other than the capabilities we already have in the PC space”. “India being a mobile first market, where several consumers have experienced internet first on the mobile and than the PC, it was important to develop capabilities in the mobile space”, he said explaining the thrust on the mobile space.
