Affordable Smartphones From Motorola

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

In the near future, Motorola as per its latest strategy likely to concentrate on the low to mid-range smartphone segment and is expected to launch a number of new devices. Right from its earlier policy in 2005, like Motorola had done with Razr back, this is a remarkable change from that.

Motorola is proved to be unable to compete with the likes of Apple iPhone and RIM in the high-end segment and thus is now targeting the low-end segment in which it is having surety for getting more margins from sales. Android OS which is free is used in this smartphones.

The main objective for this is also to increase the company’s dwindling market share that has been on a constant slide over the past year or so. Moreover, due to the recession time the company thinks that it makes sense to concentrate more on the mid and low-end segment that involves lesser capital to develop and manufacture newer products.

With the new strategy Motorola expects an increase up to 20% in the number of units shipped. This possible could lead to the turnaround the company is in need of since long. Hope so and lets check it out in future.
