Apple iPhone 3GS is a mini SIM third generation iPhone which was designed and marketed by Apple Inc. and was released globally in June 2009. It was discontinued in September 2012 after the launch of iPhone 5. The box content includes a handset, battery, charger, a dock connector to USB cable, USB power adapter, documentation and Apple earphones

Dimensions and Display

The phone had 115.5 mm of height, 62.1 mm of width and 12.3 mm of thickness as its dimensions along with a weight of 135 grams. iPhone 3GS had a 3.5 inches, capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels, 163ppi pixel density and fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating with Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

Hardware and Software

It was powered by 0.6 GHz Cortex-A8 processor and 256 MB RAM. On the storage part, it gave the option to choose from 8 / 16 / 32 GB internal memory. The phone used to operate on the iOS 3 Operating System which was upgradable to iOS 6.1.3. It also availed accelerometer, proximity, ambient light and compass sensors to have effective operations.

Telephony and Messaging

The device used to operate on 2G ( GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz ) and 3G ( HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz ) frequencies. For messaging it used to support iMessage, SMS, MMS and Email. It also featured T9 dictionary, predictive text input and voice command / dialing that eases in using the phone.

Camera

The device had a rear camera of 3.15 MP that could provide a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. The camera used to have features like Zoom, Auto-focus, Touch focus, Geo-tagging and VGA video recording.

Entertainment

For entertainment it featured music player, image viewer / editor, video recorder, video player / editor, games, FM radio, maps, Twitter and Facebook integration, TV- out and proprietary ringtones. Plus availability of loudspeaker and 3.5 mm stereo headphone mini jack further increased its capabilities.

Connectivity and Battery

The device had connectivity options for GPRS, Wi-Fi, EDGE, Bluetooth, USB and Handsfree. It also featured GPS with A-GPS support that helps in navigation. The phone had a non removable Li-ion battery of 1220 mAh with a standby time of up to 300 hours, a 2G and 3G talk time of up to 12 hours and 5 hours respectively, a 3G and Wi-Fi internet usage of up to 5 hours and 9 hours respectively, an audio playback time of up to 30 hours and a video playback time of up to 10 hours.

The phone was available in White and Black colors at a price of Rs 11,000 approximately.
