Sony announced three flagship smartphones at IFA 2015 in Berlin in August, 2015 which includes 'Sony Xperia Z5 Compact', 'Sony Xperia Z3 Compact' and 'Sony Xperia Z5 Premium'. The Z5 Compact, is, once again, a solid handset with a decent specifications list and the lower price you need if you're going to attract more customers. It makes several improvements over the 'Sony Xperia Z3 Compact', as you would expect. The display remains the same, as does the RAM, but there has been some changes in other departments. The camera has been improved, the design has been refined, colors have been replaced, a fingerprint sensor has been added, the processor has been upgraded and storage has been doubled on the new device. Lets have a quick look at the features and specifications of this smartphone.

Display and Dimensions

The smartphone has 4.6 inch IPS LCD capacitive multi-touch display which makes it slightly smaller than the Apple iPhone6. The resolution supported by the device is 1280x720 pixels which leads to a pixel density of 323 ppi and has color depth of 16 million. It is IP65 and IP68 certified which shows that it is water resistant and dust proof over 1.5 meter and 30 minutes. Further its display is covered with Oleophobic coating which protects the display from fingerprints and scratches. Measurement wise, it has got a height of 127 mm, a width of 65 mm and a thickness of 8.9 mm. It carries a weight of 138 grams. It comes loaded with proximity sensor, gyro sensor, compass sensor, accelerometer sensor and barometer sensor.

Processor and Operating System

It is powered by 1.5 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 and 2 GHz quad-core Cortex-A57 processor which is further backed by Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 chipset and Adreno 430 GPU. The RAM used in the device is 2 GB which is one of the positive point of this handset. It runs on the Google Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system.

Camera and Storage

In terms of photography, it supports an amazing 23 MP primary shooter which releases a resolution 5520?4140 pixels. There are some features which are connected with this shooter i.e. auto-focus, LED flash, face detection, geo-tagging, HDR, touch focus, HDR and panorama. The video resolutions supported by the device includes 2160p @ 30fps, 1080p @ 60fps and 720p @ 120fps. For the purpose of video chats and selfies, it comes equipped with 5 MP front shooter which offers a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels. Its video resolution is 1080p which records HD videos easily. It comes packed with internal memory of 32 GB which can be further expanded up to 200 GB with the help of microSD card.

Connectivity and Battery

It has wide range of connectivity features which includes A-GPS, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, microUSB v2.0, ANT+support, EDGE, GPRS and Wi-Fi.  Along with that it supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks which is quite obvious in high-end phones. It is fueled by a non-removable Li-Ion 2700 mAh battery which delivers a talktime of up to 11.5 hours and up to 520 hours standby time on 2G network. On the other hand, on 3G it offers a talktime of up to 14.5 hours and standby time of up to 520 hours.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is available in total 4 color options which includes Graphite Black, White, Yellow and Coral. It comes with a price tag of INR 55,600 approximately.
