Xiaomi is a Chinese electronics company which is headquartered in Beijing, China. It is one of the biggest electronics company that designs and develops cellular mobile phones. The company has launched the Mi-3, a smartphone in July, 2014. It comes in a pack with a charger, battery, head-set, USB cable, user manual and warranty card. The phone is discussed in detail below.

Design and Display

The Xiaomi Mi-3 has an extremely stylish and edgy design that makes it stand out from the crowd. The device is crafted from solid aluminum-magnesium alloy frame. It has got a height of 144mm, width of 73.6mm and thickness of 8.1mm as its dimensions. The device is light (145 grams) and can easily fit into most palms. The front is dominated by a 5.0-inch IPS capacitive display with a full HD resolution. It has a multi-touch input method and proximity sensor for auto turn-off which is conducive for saving battery power. Other sensors include accelerometer, gyroscopic, ambient light, proximity, compass and barometer sensors.

Hardware and Software

In terms of hardware, the device packs a Quad-core, 2.3 GHz processor accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8274AB chip-set and Adreno 330 graphical processing unit. It has a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory for huge data storage. It runs on the Android version 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system to ensure a snappy performance. The Xiaomi Mi-3 is a dual SIM device with dual standby which operates on 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (HSDPA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz) network frequencies. The device has the capability to store an unlimited number of contacts to its phonebook. For messaging, the device offers SMS, MMS, IM and email like services which are featured with predictive text input.

Camera

The smartphone comes equipped with a brilliant 13 MP rear shooter which has the ability to take 4128x3096 resolution pictures. The camera features include LED flash, touch-focus, Geo-tagging, smile and face detection, auto-focus, image stabilization, HDR and stacked CMOS sensor. The 2 MP front-facing camera is also there for video calling and 1600x1200 resolution selfies.

Multimedia

The audio player of phone offers a clear and crisp sound whether you use a pair of earphones or a loudspeaker. The phone also has a stereo FM so that one can tune into the favorite radio station and listen to favorite songs anytime, anywhere. One can record and play full HD videos on the device. It comes pre-loaded with various apps for the users comfort. The built in browser is quite fast and perform searches as well.

Connectivity and Battery

The connectivity attributes of the device includes GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, micro USB v2.0, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, GPS and A-GPS with GLONASS for improved navigation. Backing the device is an Li-ion 3050 mAh battery which delivers a talk-time up to 25 hours and standby time up to 500 hours.
